The hydrogenolysis reaction of some aromatic alcohols, such as benzyl alcohol, 1-phenylethanol and diphenylmethanol, promoted by supported palladium catalysts (Pd/CoO, Pd/NiO, Pd/Fe2O3, Pd/TiO2 and Pd/B(OH)3) has been investigated at 0.1 MPa H2 and 323 K. The catalysts have been characterized by BET, TPR, XRD, TEM and XPS. Data indicate that the reactivity of supported Pd catalysts strongly depends on the nature of the support and kinetic experiments, carried out at different partial hydrogen pressure over the more efficient catalysts, allowed to elucidate the hydrogenolysis reaction mechanism.

Abstract
The hydrogenolysis reaction of some aromatic alcohols, such as benzyl alcohol, 1-phenylethanol and diphenylmethanol, promoted by supported palladium catalysts (Pd/CoO, Pd/NiO, Pd/Fe2O3, Pd/TiO2 and Pd/B(OH)3) has been investigated at 0.1 MPa H2 and 323 K. The catalysts have been characterized by BET, TPR, XRD, TEM and XPS. Data indicate that the reactivity of supported Pd catalysts strongly depends on the nature of the support and kinetic experiments, carried out at different partial hydrogen pressure over the more efficient catalysts, allowed to elucidate the hydrogenolysis reaction mechanism.File in questo prodotto:
