Abstract

We consider the behavior of porous materials with large irregular holes in the context of a linearized thermoelastic theory which includes inelastic surface effects associated with changes in the deformation of the holes in the vicinity of void boundaries and which generalizes classical voids theories. After we study the dispersion relation for small-amplitude acoustic waves and obtain eight basic waves: two shear optical micro-elastic waves, two coupled transverse elastic waves and four coupled longitudinal thermo-elastic waves.
