Events which imply “disaster” are commonly associated to episode like earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, tsunamis, mudslides, avalanches etc. These events are part of nature and they are classified as disaster only if they are involved with the risk for human life. For example if an earthquakes occur in a wasteland, an hurricane in the middle of the ocean, a mudslide or an avalanche in a uninhabited mountain, they are not considered as disasters but as natural events, on the contrary, when they are realized in the proximity of an urbanized area, they are classified as disaster.A disaster can be defined as a phenomenon which causes damage to life and property, destruction, loss of life, or drastic change to the environment, for that reason our attention is focused more on their consequences than on their causes, anyway the consequences of a disaster are severe on the society and on its economy. In this regard we will talk about an environmental disaster caused by a wrong human action.
