In this paper we study the statistics of intersections of a sphere with tiles in regular three-dimensional tessellations consisting by cubes with cubic obstacles. We also show that the obtained results are useful in the determination of a classi¯cation rule for raster conversions in GIS and GRASS GIS.

Abstract
