The article focuses on the interrelation and difference between sculpture and architecture. The thesis of the article is developed in dialogue with Charles Batteux's work Les Beaux-Arts réduits à en même principe. Sculpture converts aesthetic pleasure into utility, architecture converts utility into aesthetic pleasure. The common root lies in the interaction between feeling one's own needs and the need to feel one's existence. As an example of a successful dialogue between sculpture and architecture, Piazza, the work of Alfredo Pirri for the archaeological museum of Reggio Calabria, is analyzed.
