Abstract

The analysis presented in the article is part of a broader study [1] aimed at analysing in some detail the fishery system in the Southernmost part of the Tyrrhenian coast of Southern Italy (Fig. 1), comprising the ports of Cannitello of Villa San Giovanni, Scilla, Bagnara Calabra, Palmi and Gioia Tauro. The previous study, funded by the “Stretto” Coast FLAG and commissioned to the Agraria Department of the Mediter-ranea University of Reggio Calabria, was framed in the context of an analysis of fishery development policies, as defined by the new EU Common Fishery Policy through the five-priority axes European Fishery Fund (EFF), which introduced important measures in support of fishery and aquaculture throughout Europe
