Abstract
A close connection can be estabilished between subband coding schemes used in signal processing and the multiresolution analyses generated by refinable functions and wavelets. The main advantage of the filter approach is that it is possible to design filters without requiring the existence of a corresponding MRA. Here, an efficient algorithm is presented to obtain filter systems verifying the perfect reconstruction condition. Then, a class of filters with relevant properties is considered and experimental results in image compression are shown.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
