The extension and deepening of project management have resulted in the increasing relevance of stakeholders, regardless of their involvement. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between stakeholder management practices and project performance. By applying a questionnaire to participants of 105 projects, we raised their characteristics and got perceptions regarding the stakeholders involved, the adoption of management practices, and projects performance. For data analysis, we used the structural equation modeling in two different models, by mean of which we have alternatively used overall success and, by other hand, five success main dimensions as dependent variables. Results showed positive and significant relationships among the variables. Specifically, we concluded that the projects' overall success was in a great deal explained by stakeholder management, especially when linked to participants’ larger experience. This result confirms the relevance of stakeholders’ role in projects, contributing to a better consolidation of knowledge in this area and to practices that favor project performance as well.
