In this paper we estimate the long run regional impact of the establishment of a large industrial estate in Melfi, in the region of Basilicata, the most underdeveloped area of southern Italy. In a previos paper (AISRe Piacenza 1999) we asessed the short run impact of establishing a large industrial complex in a underdeveloped area. Using input output techniques the paper reported the results of a simulation for the construction period. In this paper we attempt to assess the long run impact of the investments outlays between 1980 and 1995 for the period 1985-1998 on the region of Basilicata.
