Abstract

The world is changing rapidly and the need to adopt sustainable behaviour is increasingly urgent, not just in architecture. Is it possible to innovate while making conscious and responsible choices? Technological innovation is not necessarily green and alone is not the solution to problems but, paradoxically, if not well directed, it can become a problem to solutions. Innovation is just a tool and, to be truly sustainable, must start from design. In this context, the concrete case of water cities is analysed. They require a peculiar approach precisely because of the presence of the water element.
