The paper is concerned with a generalized approach for the analysis of second-order three-dimensional random wave fields, which is able to represent either ocean waves in an undisturbed field or ocean standing waves. A nonlinear stochastic family is introduced, which has a linear Gaussian contribution, and its second-order correction. This family is able to describe the nonlinear mechanics of the represented random wave field, and then, assuming in the considered ocean field the occurrence of a very high wave, the nonlinear mechanics of wave groups can be investigated. The free surface displacement and the velocity potential may be achieved, as well as the nonlinear velocity and acceleration, both for the stochastic family and for the very high wave groups, so that the results are of interest for the analysis of nonlinear wave forces on slender structures, with the Morison approach.

Abstract
The paper is concerned with a generalized approach for the analysis of second-order three-dimensional random wave fields, which is able to represent either ocean waves in an undisturbed field or ocean standing waves. A nonlinear stochastic family is introduced, which has a linear Gaussian contribution, and its second-order correction. This family is able to describe the nonlinear mechanics of the represented random wave field, and then, assuming in the considered ocean field the occurrence of a very high wave, the nonlinear mechanics of wave groups can be investigated. The free surface displacement and the velocity potential may be achieved, as well as the nonlinear velocity and acceleration, both for the stochastic family and for the very high wave groups, so that the results are of interest for the analysis of nonlinear wave forces on slender structures, with the Morison approach.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
