In this paper we present a novel approach to rank the number and the position of magnetic sensors in tokamak reators. In particular, two different kinds ofreactors are considered: ASDEX-Upgrade configuration and ITER machines. In order to take into account non-linear effects in the input-output space, we use the mutual information and fuzzy entropy concepts. Concerning ASDEX Upgrade machines, this technique is suitable for on-line applications sinceit reduces the computational complexity; as for ITER reactors (future applications) a proper rank of the sensors allows to determine their optimal location.

Abstract

In this paper we present a novel approach to rank the number and the position of magnetic sensors in tokamak reators. In particular, two different kinds ofreactors are considered: ASDEX-Upgrade configuration and ITER machines. In order to take into account non-linear effects in the input-output space, we use the mutual information and fuzzy entropy concepts. Concerning ASDEX Upgrade machines, this technique is suitable for on-line applications sinceit reduces the computational complexity; as for ITER reactors (future applications) a proper rank of the sensors allows to determine their optimal location.
