In the context of global climate change, the adaptation of spaces becomes a priority task, involving not only politicians but also architects, urban planners, and officials. Beyond the theoretical determination of general guide-lines for adapting a city to climate change, the use of specialized computer simulation software may prove more effective. These tools allow for a straightforward presentation of the impact of various design solutions on the local microclimate and human thermal perception. The objective of this article is to examine the usefulness of computer simulation tools in decision-making regarding land development. Making rational and scientifically proven decisions can provide social and economic benefits to investors from newly designed investments. Simulation software ENVI-met was used to conduct simulations, followed by an analysis of perceived temperature using the UTCI index. A densely populated residential area in Lublin was chosen as a case study. Simulations were carried out for the existing state and a theoretical state for comparison. The results illustrate how the addition of a few trees can alter the perceived temperature in a given space. This is demonstrated in a straightforward manner through automatically generated simulations, easily interpretable. The findings indicate that adding small trees reduces the local perceived temperature, improving the thermal comfort of residents and confirming the importance of green initiatives for shaping environmentally friendly neighborhoods. However, the use of specialized software requires extensive knowledge, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration between researchers and designers.
