Abstract

In this paper a patch antennas printed on dielectric-coated elliptic cylinders is analysed using the Green’s function technique in the spectral domain. An assumed electric surface current distribution on the patch is taken as the radiation source and introduced through the boundary condition at the air- dielectric interface. The total field inside the coating and in the exterior region is expressed in terms of Mathieu functions with unknown expansion coefficients. The far field is calculated asymptotically from this solution and it is used to get the radiation pattern of some current distribution. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the method.
