This paper has as its theme the cave church of S. Margherita, located near the town of Mottola (Taranto) and is part of a wider research dedicated to Byzantine religious architecture in southern Italy. The study consists in the survey of the monument with mixed techniques (laser scanner and photogrammetry), analysis and comparison with churches with similar characteristics. Afterwards it was carried out the study of the iconography; finally, the hypothesis of redevelopment was designed through a mobile app for reading and understanding the frescoes.
