This works consists in the development and tuning up of a prototype of a multiscale and multichannel operating environment to be used for the communication, exploitation and enhancement of cultural heritage, focusing on the case history of the roman Villa in Palazzi di Casignana (RC). Many different surveying techniques have been employed, ranging from traditional topographical survey to laser scanning and phomodelling. By melting geometric survey, historical and logical/linguistic analysis (within the framework of general linguistic approach and mereotopology) we aim to the realize an ‘object oriented’ 3D model linked with a database structure, with special attention to the digital implementation of ICCD forms. The working environment has been provided by VIRTOOLS, a top-end application used in designing interactive 3D virtual models, e.g. games. The model interface is structured using international standards, with the most advanced operating techniques, specially meant to be used in a client-server situation, but specifically optimized also for the use in the Web through the Internet. The availability of multiscale and multidisciplinary information allows us to foresee the chance to widen the concept itself of communication, beyond virtuality, toward extended perception and augmented reality .
