A closed-form solution exact to the second-order in a Stokes expansion, for the free surface displacement and the velocity potential of short-crested (3D) wave groups interacting with an upright breakwater is considered. The theory is applied to investigate the wave pressures when an exceptionally high crest occurs on the reflective structure. Abstract
The solution reveals that the mechanics of wave groups at wall is affected by some conditions and parameters. A full validation of the theory is obtained with the data of a small-scale field experiment carried out at the Natural Ocean Engineering Laboratory (NOEL, www.noel.unirc.it) of Reggio Calabria (Italy).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
