AbstractThe need to ensure high energy performance of buildings, to arrive at the design of buildings with low energy consumption leads to apply to components, especially external, flexibility of energy performance compared to reference different climatic conditions. In recent years, in fact, the industries, in collaboration with research centres, have done new experiments on the components, both horizontal and vertical closure, to find solutions that ensure the dynamism and to allow effective management of energyflows between outside and inside. The aim of this paper is to analyse the issue of solutions called "smart skin envelope", identified by disassembling some case studies chosen from among smart building. That analysis was done through the study of functional parameters, quality and, in particular, energy performance of production, also considering those of the reference climatic context. The study provides, therefore, the application of a methodology, already validated, that allows to analyse the energy performance of production of different new materials used as layers of the components and their ability to exchange their information bringing them to a single management control system. Will be checked, also, the influence that the reference climate contexthas on the components abovementioned, in order to achieve an overall improvement of energetic results of production. In summary, the results obtained could give information for a better control and a more efficient energy management of these smart buildings
