This paper deals with the validation of a one-dimensional (1-D) viscous elastic-plastic constitutive model able to reproduce the non-linear time-dependent behaviour of asphalt concrete. In order to determine the constitutive parameters of the model, by means of an appropriate identification procedure, an extensive experimental investigation has been carried out. The effectiveness of the model as well as of the identification procedure has been verified by comparison between the material response, obtained numerically, and the experimental data.

Abstract

This paper deals with the validation of a one-dimensional (1-D) viscous elastic-plastic constitutive model able to reproduce the non-linear time-dependent behaviour of asphalt concrete. In order to determine the constitutive parameters of the model, by means of an appropriate identification procedure, an extensive experimental investigation has been carried out. The effectiveness of the model as well as of the identification procedure has been verified by comparison between the material response, obtained numerically, and the experimental data.
