SULLA VARIABILITA' DEI PERIODI DELLE ONDE DI MARE

The main goal of the experiments carried out in the sea around ​​Reggio Calabria from 1989, was the verification of the theory on the quasi-deterministic mechanics for groups of waves both progressive and interactive with structures. The large volume of data gathered also allows us to gain new insight into various basic properties of sea-waves. In particular, it was regularly verified that the period of the highest waves tends to have a predictable value, a priori, which is smaller than the dominant period of the spectrum.

Gli esperimenti svolti nel mare di Reggio Calabria a partire dal 1989 avevano l'obiettivo primario di verificare la teoria sulla meccanica quas-deterministica dei gruppi di onde sia progressivi sia interagenti con strutture. La grande massa di dati raccolti consente peraltro di approfondire diverse proprietà di base delle onde di mare. Infine si è verificato regolarmente che i periodi delle onde più alte tendono ad un valore prevedibile a priori, il quale è più piccolo del periodo dominante dello spettro.
