Abstract

Designer activity has deeply changed, in the last years. The increased complexities and the new possibilities ask ever more accurate and incisive systems of control. As an answer to such problems, the normative apparatuses tend to become more rigid, promoting standardized solution that are quite harmful in the restoration interventions. On the opposite side, there’s always an individuality of the intervention that doesn’t allow inflexible operation schemes. Such a problem has been solved in medicine, introducing protocols for the diagnosis and control of the whole curative trial. As in medicine, protocols can also develop in architecture. Protocol System intends to direct different phases of the restoration plan. They are new tools, meant to direct restoration interventions respecting the existing buildings genetic code, adding, in this way, to the code of practice the idea of sustainability.
