The construction industry appears to have undergone major changesin recent years.A stronger focus on land, environment and landscape, energy emergencies,seismic and hydrogeological safety, as well as the call forthe upgrade and enhancement of existing buildings, have all led tonew approaches and strategies.The leading players in the anthropogenic transformations of the territory- contractors, designers, businesses, manufacturers – havebeen called upon to reconsider the focus of their interest and theirmutual interaction modes. As a result, new and unavoidable strategicchallenges have emerged for the next few years.Innovation, competitiveness, sustainable growth.In this framework, the University is required to play a role in governingthe cultural development of an entire community by providingknowledge to the ruling classes and new skills to professionals.Research needs to be connected to education and education to renewedprofessional skills so that they may work together to buildgrowth opportunities for the local community.The experience of the Building Future Lab project Laboratoryof Permanent Operational Research – Università Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria,Department of Architecture and Territory, and the related Master’sdegree in Management and development of experimental researchfor sustainability in the construction industry, in relation to which thisbook presents theoretical and experimental papers, fits perfectly inthis scenario
Il settore delle costruzioni appare oggi profondamente mutato.L’attenzione per il territorio, l’ambiente e il paesaggio; le emergenzeenergetiche; la sicurezza sismica e quella idrogeologica, fino alladomanda di riqualificazione e valorizzazione del patrimonio edilizioesistente, suggeriscono nuovi approcci e nuove strategie.I principali protagonisti delle trasformazioni antropiche del territorio– committenti, progettisti, impresa, produzione - sono chiamatia ripensare i propri focus di interesse e le reciproche modalità diinterazione. Ne derivano, per i prossimi anni, nuove sfide strategiche,non più eludibili.Innovazione, competitività, crescita sostenibile.In questo quadro, la formazione universitaria è chiamata a svolgereil ruolo di governo della crescita culturale di un’intera comunità,attraverso la trasmissione di saperi alla classe dirigente e di nuovecompetenze ai professionisti.Occorre connettere la ricerca alla formazione e la formazione a rinnovateprofessionalità perché facciano rete e costruiscano opportunitàdi crescita per il territorio.In questo scenario si inserisce l’esperienza del Building Future Lab Laboratorio di Ricerca Operativa Permanente dell’Università Mediterraneadi Reggio Calabria, Dipartimento di Architettura e Territorio,e del correlato Master di secondo livello in Management e sviluppodella ricerca sperimentale per la sostenibilità nel settore delle costruzionidi cui il testo restituisce contributi teorici e approfondimentisperimentali.
