Impact: the essay is published in an editorial series based in Paris and with international circulation. Methodology: the studio carries out an iconographic comparison according to the synoptic-comparative method. This method has made it possible to discover two hitherto unpublished aspects in the study of the historical views of the Strait of Messina. Originality: comparative analysis by superimposition represents an innovative method in the iconographic study of the landscape.
