La trama verde nei processi di metropolizzazione. TEMI connessi e approcci trasversali

The green texture, meaning with this meaning all those free and permeable green ar- eas, which in various ways contribute to composing the design of the urban green, is a real complex system, formed by a set of natural surfaces and environmental structures, an asset of collective interest, a true multifunctional resource for the city and its inhabi- tants. The metropolisation processes of the last fifty years have produced indiscriminate land consumption phenomena, with the consequent loss of the environmental quality of metropolitan urban contexts. The disappearance of agricultural areas and the contigu- ous natural landscape has led to the loss of important resources for metropolitan areas, in the form of ecosystem services and the environmental quality of cities. The paper explores the primary role of the green texture in the functioning of the city. The green plot, in all its components, in addition to being an added value to the quality of the places, is also a precious opportunity to outline in a precise and concrete way, a modern reinterpretation of the places themselves and the related services. It is therefore a set of factors that must influence the future goals of urban and territorial planning, for example by expanding the so-called green and blue infrastructures and, consequently, addressing the relationship between built and artificialized territory, both with the pro- tection and enhancement of the naturalistic values diffused in the territory, both with ecosystem services and with an active conservation of biodiversity.

La trama verde, intendendo con questa accezione tutte quelle aree verdi libere e per- meabili, che a diverso titolo concorrono a comporre il disegno del verde urbano, è un vero e proprio sistema complesso, formato da un insieme di superfici naturali e di strut- ture ambientali, un bene di interesse collettivo, una vera risorsa multifunzionale per la città e per i suoi abitanti. I processi di metropolizzazione dell’ultimo cinquantennio hanno prodotto fenomeni di consumo di suolo indiscriminato, con conseguente perdi- ta della qualità ambientale dei contesti urbani metropolitani. La scomparsa delle aree agricole e del paesaggio naturale contiguo ha comportato la perdita di risorse importan- ti per le aree metropolitane, sotto forma di servizi ecosistemici e di qualità ambientale delle città. Il paper esplora il ruolo primario della trama verde nel funzionamento della città. La trama verde, in tutte le sue componenti, oltre ad essere un valore aggiunto alla qualità dei luoghi, è anche una preziosa opportunità per delineare in modo preciso e concreto, una moderna reinterpretazione dei luoghi stessi e dei servizi annessi. Si tratta quindi di un complesso di fattori che devono influire sui traguardi futuri della pianificazione ur- banistica e territoriale, ad esempio ampliando le cosiddette green and blue infrastructu- res e, di conseguenza, affrontando il rapporto tra territorio edificato e artificializzato, sia con la tutela e il potenziamento dei valori naturalistici diffusi nel territorio, sia con i servizi ecosistemici, che con una conservazione attiva della biodiversità.
