La concezione di straniero in Paul Ricoeur

This note examines the political-legal thought of Paul Ricoeur with particular reference to the collection of writings and conferences: Politique, Économie et Société. The aim is to rethink society according to an ethos based on dialogue and confrontation between different cultures. The French philosopher invites the reader to identify with the position of the foreigner who wishes to be admitted into a community. According to Paul Ricoeur, it is only by understanding the condition of the foreigner that it is possible to reconstruct an ethic based on mutual respect and acceptance. The analysis of the condition of the stranger, in the light of the anthropological dimension and identity of the same, is, therefore, a useful perspective of reading the thought of Ricoeur as a whole.

Nella presente nota viene esaminato il pensiero politico-giuridico di Paul Ricoeur con particolare riferimento alla raccolta di scritti e conferenze: Politique, Économie et Société. L’obiettivo è quello di ripensare la società secondo un ethos fondato sul dialogo e sul confronto tra diverse culture. Il filosofo francese invita il lettore ad immedesimarsi nella posizione dello straniero desideroso di essere ammesso all’interno di una comunità. Secondo il pensiero di Paul Ricoeur, soltanto comprendendo la condizione dello straniero è possibile ricostruire un’etica fondata sul rispetto reciproco e sull’accoglienza. L’analisi sulla condizione di straniero, alla luce della dimensione antropologica ed identitaria dello stesso, costituisce, dunque, una prospettiva utile di lettura del pensiero ricoeuriano nel suo complesso.
