Abstract

A numerical procedure for the evaluation of the peak load of a general class of structures is expounded. Namely the addressed structures obey to a three stress invariants constitutive criterion of Menétrey-Willam-type endowed with cap in compression. The formulation, developed in the Haigh-Westergaard coordinates, allows an easy treatment of the mechanical problem in a 3D context as well as an interesting geometrical interpretation in the principal stress space.
