In modern historical literature Adriano’s pederasty is very famous, but there is no trace of Trajan’s pedophi-lia. Yet the paragraph 2.7 of Hadrian’s Life (which should not be amended) is openly treated, as well as Dione Cassio, who justifies it on the basis of Roman law, and Giuliano, who instead derides it. Pedophile graffiti of the Paedagogium of the Palatine is an indirect response to the forgotten news of the sources on pedophilia of the ‘excellent prince’.

Abstract

In modern historical literature Adriano’s pederasty is very famous, but there is no trace of Trajan’s pedophi-lia. Yet the paragraph 2.7 of Hadrian’s Life (which should not be amended) is openly treated, as well as Dione Cassio, who justifies it on the basis of Roman law, and Giuliano, who instead derides it. Pedophile graffiti of the Paedagogium of the Palatine is an indirect response to the forgotten news of the sources on pedophilia of the ‘excellent prince’.
