In this letter, we report preliminary results aimed to evaluate to which extent the field scattered by a breast tumor is affected by the choice of the matching fluid permittivity $ar{arepsilon}_f$. We have modelled the female breast using highly accurate 3-D numerical phantoms, and studied the forward electromagnetic scattering phenomena via Contrast-Source integral equation. Our analysis reveals as the influence of $ar{arepsilon}_f$ on the scattered field is dependent by the morphological characteristics of the breast under consideration.

Abstract
In this letter, we report preliminary results aimed to evaluate to which extent the field scattered by a breast tumor is affected by the choice of the matching fluid permittivity $ar{arepsilon}_f$. We have modelled the female breast using highly accurate 3-D numerical phantoms, and studied the forward electromagnetic scattering phenomena via Contrast-Source integral equation. Our analysis reveals as the influence of $ar{arepsilon}_f$ on the scattered field is dependent by the morphological characteristics of the breast under consideration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
