Allium pentadactyli, a rare endemic occurring in the rock crevices of S Calabria, is described as a species new to science and illustrated.The caryology, leaf anatomy and taxonomic position are examined. The relationships of A. pentadactyli with the species belonging to the A. cupanii group are discussed.
