In this paper a revisited analysis of the radiation from a transverse slot on an elliptic cylinder is presented. It will be shown that field distribution on the cylinders obeys to a Mathieu equation. In what follows a short account of the theory of the Mathieu equation and of the Mathieu functions is given and an algorithm for their computation is described. The far field radiated from slots with different lenght on cylinders with several eccentricities is presented and discussed.
