Cities, complex human product par excellence, are also the point of convergence of the tensions, contradictions and problems of a rapidly changing society that is facing social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges whose solutions require new models of management and development as well as innovative approaches and tools. Therefore, programmes, plans and projects should be started to make cities more sustainable and economically competitive and to increase their quality of life as well as their attractiveness for investments and brilliant people able to lead innovation processes. In particular, the complex relationship between sustainability and urban quality is a strong attractor for those who want to invest in the cities by further rising their economic level and quality of life. In the light of these reflections, this paper highlights the relations between sustainability and urban quality by providing a Euro-Mediterranean example.
