After 1861, the Reggio Calabria town council decided to restore the old Dominican convent and use it as a town hall, but it was not until the 1880s that the restoration and extension project was entrusted to the engineer Alberto Ferretti, who demolished the existing structures and built the new façade. The building was completed in 1902, but the 1908 earthquake forced its reconstruction. The task was entrusted to Ernesto Basile, who drew up a first project that was not approved. A new site was chosen and the current town hall was built. In 1911 the old town hall was demolished and a theatre was built in its place.

Abstract
After 1861, the Reggio Calabria town council decided to restore the old Dominican convent and use it as a town hall, but it was not until the 1880s that the restoration and extension project was entrusted to the engineer Alberto Ferretti, who demolished the existing structures and built the new façade. The building was completed in 1902, but the 1908 earthquake forced its reconstruction. The task was entrusted to Ernesto Basile, who drew up a first project that was not approved. A new site was chosen and the current town hall was built. In 1911 the old town hall was demolished and a theatre was built in its place.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
